SHOPPINGMATE - PRIVACY POLICY

Evenness Arts, the developer, administrator, and data controller ("the Data Controller") of the mobile application ShoppingMate ("the Application") hereby sets forth the privacy policy as observed by the Data Controller with regard to any data that you, the user of the Application, may transfer to the Data Controller as a result of your use of the Application. 

APPLICATION DESCRIPTION - The Application's intended service is to allow you to create, read, update, and delete items, typically food items, on a personal item list (the “Generated Data”), with the aim of managing your home supplies. Only a single of such an item’s attributes, the item name, contains a string value, to be freely filled in by you.

IMPROPER USE - You hereby agree that incorporating information in aforementioned item name that can lead to your identification or that of another individual, or for that matter any information that you consider to be confidential in nature, shall constitute improper use of the Application. 

DATA SHARING - You have the option to share the Generated Data with other users, who are typically other members of your household. If you are not the sole adult member of your household, the latter functionality is an essential part of the value proposition of the Application. If you opt to share the Generated Data, the Application will locally (i.e. on your device) generate two access codes (the “Code Combination”), each consisting of a random series of string characters. A copy of the Generated Data will then be transferred from to your device to/from Cloud Firestore, a cloud storage service provided by Google Cloud EMEA Limited (the “Data Processor”). The Generated Data as stored by the Data Processor will thereafter be accessible through the Code Combination, as authenticated by the Data Processor. You share the Generated Data by providing another person with the Code Combination, who can then introduce them in the instance of the Application on their device(s). To the Application, all devices, including those of persons other than you, that use the same Code Combination will be considered equivalent, having the same create, read, update, and delete authority over the Generated Data.

ANONYMITY OF THE DATA - The Data Controller has access to both the Generated Data and the corresponding Code Combination. However, the Generated Data - barring your improper use of the Application - nor the Code Combination contain any information that can lead to the identification of you, of the users you shared the Code Combination with, or for that matter of any other individual, nor can combining the Generated Data with the Code Combination lead to such identification. Therefore, THE DESIGN OF THE APPLICATION IS SUCH THAT THE  DATA CONTROLLER WILL NOT AS A RESULT OF YOUR PROPER USE OF THE APPLICATION RECEIVE ANY “PERSONAL DATA” OR “PERSONAL INFORMATION” AS DEFINED BY THE GDPR (“GENERAL DATA PROTECTION REGULATION”) AND THE CCPA (“CALIFORNIA CONSUMER PRIVACY ACT”) RESPECTIVELY. The Data Controller rejects all responsibility - and you accept such rejection - with regard to any such Personal Data or such Personal Information that he or the Data Processor may receive as a result of your improper use of the Application, and has the right to immediately remove such Generated Data in their entirety, as well as the corresponding Code Combination.

DATA PROCESSOR ACCESS - For the purpose of automatically authenticating the Code Combination from a certain device, the Data Processor may be required to identify the device that requests the authentification, which may include such information as the device\’s IP address. The Data Processor may also track and store per-device usage information, such as the frequency with which Generated Data is accessed, or the country from which such access occurs. To the Data Controller’s knowledge, he has no access to such authentication or per-device usage information. Should nevertheless the opposite be true, the Data Controller resolves to treat such information with confidentiality. However, the Data Controller believes he can (request) access (to) certain generalized data with regard to such usage information. The Data Controller may also allow the Data Processor to display advertising through the Application. The Data Processor may use such authentication information,  usage information, or the Generated Data to tailor such advertising. 

LOSS OF YOUR DATA ACCESS - If you lose or forget part or whole of the Code Combination, you will no longer be able to access the corresponding Generated Data. Because of the anonymity of the data, it is not possible to have the existing or a new Code Combination automatically sent to you. Should you contact the Data Controller for this purpose, he will as a rule - because of said anonymity of the data - not be able to assert you are indeed associated with such Generated Data. The Data Controller shall be under no obligation to consider indications of such association, such as the listing by you of certain elements of the Generated Data. You should consider such Generated Data for all intents and purposes as lost. Generated Data which for a reasonable period as judged by the Data Controller has not been accessed, because of aforementioned or other reasons, can be removed by the Data Controller, together with the corresponding Code Combination. Because of said anonymity of the data, the Data Controller will be unable to notify you of such deletion.

The Data Controller has no control over and assumes no responsibility for privacy policies or practices of the Data Processor.

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. This will give rise to an update of the Application. Upon installing such an update, you will be asked to agree with the updated Privacy Policy, or choose not to continue using the Application. if you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, you can contact the Data Controller at evenness.arts@gmail.com
